Diesel generator set - rental unit — The catalogue entry for diesel generator sets supplied for rental and temporary power. Quotations are built from capacity, voltage and running hours, and the actual model — brand, power band, open or silenced — is fixed when the order is confirmed. Sizing starts with three figures: the combined starting current of the equipment that will run at the same time, the permitted voltage drop, and the hours per day; loads with a heavy starting current such as pumps, compressors and welders must be sized up by their starting multiple, or the breaker trips the moment they cut in. Sets come with a day tank, a main breaker and protection; long runs need room for refuelling and for heat rejection. Secure the battery and the exhaust before transport, and earth the set before connecting anything on site. Rates and deposits differ between models listed under the same entry, so give the site, the number of days and the load list before ordering.
